The 2017 Travel List
29 January 2017
Last year I was lucky enough to travel to some amazing destinations, and those experiences have only got me wanting more. Now that the festive period is well and truly a distant memory and the January blues have completely set in, I've started to plan my travel for the year to make the most of my annual leave, and my travel budget. Today I thought I'd share some of the places I'd love to travel to this year, in case you were in need of any inspiration...it's unlikely that I'll make it to all of these places (I'm not made of money!), but it's always nice to dream!
Venice, Italy
Venice has been on my list for years now, I love all things italian and Venice has always seemed so beautiful to me. I got to experience the fake Venice in Las Vegas last year, so now I think it's time I booked a trip to see the real deal!
Santorini, Greece
Again, Santorini has been on my list for years now. Unfortunately it became *the* place to go last year, which has hiked the price up significantly. If the cost of going to Santorini stays as it is, then it'll have to be one for next year, but a girl can always dream!
Isla Holbox, Mexico
Whilst researching a trip to Cancun, I stumbled upon Isla Holbox, which is just a teeny way away from Cancun. This tiny island has a proper 'old Mexico' feel and if I'm honest, looks like heaven on earth. It seems like it would be a great place to travel to after Cancun to get away from all of the typical tourist traps, and see some of the beauty that Mexico has to offer.
Cinque Terre, Italy
The Cinque Terre on the italian riviera has been top of my list for a long time now. Made up of five colourful and authentic fishing villages, the Cinque Terre has one of the most beautiful coastlines in the world. The five villages are no longer the isolated hamlets they once were, but there’s still a feeling of remote authenticity, with few roads, perfectly preserved architecture and a network of stunning coastal and mountain trails.

Reykjavik, Iceland
This year I'd also love a wintery holiday around Christmas time, and Iceland looks like it would be the perfect location for my winter wonderland getaway. I'd love to visit the Blue Lagoon and go sledding in proper snow (not like any of this sleet that we get in the UK!), and of course seeing the northern lights in person would be the dream.
Where are you planning to visit this year?

Brunch at Aubaine, Selfridges
23 January 2017
Getting the girls together for Sunday brunch has quickly become one of my favourite weekend pastimes (we're on a mission to brunch our way around London), and this weekends location was just too good to keep to myself.
Aubaine is nestled in the heart of central London, on the second floor of Selfridges, but you could easily forget that you're in the middle of a busy department store and imagine you were somewhere in France. Aubaine describes itself as a true blend of cosmopolitan style and french cuisine, combining the elegance of a Parisian salon with the relaxed ambience of a provençal bistro - perfect for my Parisian withdrawal symptoms (the desire to go back is strong.). Aubaine prides itself on it's sophisticated yet relaxed atmosphere, and that's exactly what we were treated to. I often find that restaurants who claim to be 'sophisticated' can be a little stuffy, but right from entering the restaurant, we were able to relax and have a laugh together without feeling self conscious or out of place.
The décor was what really sold me on Aubaine. The urban yet rustic interiors transported me back to the Parisian cafés that I loved so much last year, and the floral ceiling was to die for. Seriously, this place is the stuff of Instagram dreams.
If the décor wasn't enough for you, then the food certainly will be. Unfortunately, Aubaine don't have a brunch menu on a Sunday, as the restaurant doesn't open until 11.30am, however their standard menu is just as good. As it was almost lunch time by the time we made it to the restaurant, I opted for the salade de chèvre chaud - warm goats cheese on cereal toast, frisée salad, apple grapes & walnuts - and I can honestly say, it was one of the best salads I've ever tasted. Aubaine's philosophy is 'simplicité chest beauté', and that's exactly how I'd describe our experience.
If you're looking for somewhere relaxed (and Pinterest-worthy), with amazing food, then I'd definitely recommend Aubaine. They have restaurants across London, but if you're in it for the floral décor then Selfridges is the one for you!

2017 Goals and Aspirations
8 January 2017
Going back to work this week has cemented in my mind that it's finally 2017. For me, 2016 went by in a blur, at the end of the year I had that dreaded feeling that I hadn't achieved anything. Until this point, each year of my life has ended with me passing exams, finally getting the job, graduating, moving, etc and for the first time in my life, last year I didn't have to deal with any of that - I just got on with my life...
