Legend has it that if you throw a coin into the fountain, you will one day return to Rome...throw two coins into the fountain and you will find love, and throw a third coin into the water and you've bagged yourself a husband...so I'm currently waiting on my knight in shining armour to arrive at my doorstep!
The Fontana Di Trevi, or Trevi Fountain as it's known in english, is truly magical, and it just so happens to be my favourite place in Rome, so I just had to share all of the photos with you!
The Fontana Di Trevi measures over 85 feet high and is the largest (and most beautiful) baroque fountain in the city. Made of travertine and carrara marble, the statue depicts Ocean, Abundance and Health and spills over 80,000 cubic meters of water every day...collecting over 3,000 euros a day for charity - so every coin counts!
If you're planning on visiting the Trevi Fountain, then definitely head down first thing in the morning. The fountain gets extremely busy after 10am, as thats when most of the tour groups arrive and you just can't get anywhere near the water, whereas if you go early, you pretty much have the whole fountain to yourself.
It's also worth heading down late at night to see the fountain lit up...it's magical during the day and night, and definitely worth two trips! We went down to the fountain at midnight and ate gelato watching the water flow - it was just magical and the perfect end to our trip.
